Playing Solitaire Réfléchi well
In brief
Nothing is hidden in the columns: before your first move, locate the aces and the cards blocking them, then make moves that free them. Only empty a column if a king can go there, and save the stock for when the tableau is blocked.
1. Study the entire deal before playing
In Klondike, you often play to see what is underneath a card. Here, all 28 cards in the columns are face up: you know where the aces are, which cards cover them and which cards will need to move first. Take the time to trace the cards from each ace to the bottom of its column.
In deal TF1-D1N-AAAAAAB, the A♥ is the last card in column 4: the first move of the winning game sends it to a foundation (+10 points), leaving the R♣ at the bottom of the column.
Face-down stock: 24 cards; waste empty. Foundations, cards placed: 0 spades, 0 hearts, 0 diamonds, 0 clubs. Column 1: 6 of clubs; column 2: 2 of spades, 10 of clubs; column 3: 3 of diamonds, jack of hearts, 10 of hearts; column 4: 3 of spades, 5 of spades, king of clubs, ace of hearts; column 5: queen of hearts, 3 of clubs, 4 of hearts, 7 of spades, queen of spades; column 6: 4 of spades, 2 of diamonds, ace of spades, 7 of diamonds, 7 of hearts, 3 of hearts; column 7: 10 of spades, 2 of clubs, 5 of diamonds, king of diamonds, 8 of hearts, 7 of clubs, 9 of spades.
2. Move groups that are already in order
An ordered pair or sequence in the middle of a column can move as a unit, freeing what it covers. On move 3 of the same game, the 8♥ 7♣ leaves column 7 and is placed on the 9♠ in column 3: the R♦ becomes the last card in column 7.
Face-down stock: 24 cards; waste pile empty. Foundations, cards placed: 0 spades, 1 hearts, 0 diamonds, 0 clubs. Column 1: 6 of clubs; column 2: 2 of spades, 10 of clubs; column 3: 3 of diamonds, jack of hearts, 10 of hearts, 9 of spades, 8 of hearts, 7 of clubs; column 4: 3 of spades, 5 of spades, king of clubs; column 5: queen of hearts, 3 of clubs, 4 of hearts, 7 of spades, queen of spades; column 6: 4 of spades, 2 of diamonds, ace of spades, 7 of diamonds, 7 of hearts, 3 of hearts; column 7: 10 of spades, 2 of clubs, 5 of diamonds, king of diamonds.
3. Prepare an empty column for a king
An empty column accepts only a king: emptying it is only useful if a king that helps your game can move there. In the featured game, column 2 is emptied on move 11, and on the very next move, the R♣ from column 4 moves into it. See also the rejection of a group without a king.
4. Save the stock for when you are blocked
The stock is the only hidden part. First play the moves available on the tableau, then draw when it is blocked. Each stock reset costs 100 points: deal TF1-D1N-AAAAAAG was won with 2 stock resets in draw 1, and the same deal in draw 3 (TF1-D3N-AAAAAAG) with 4.
5. Use undo
Since everything is visible, mistakes are easy to spot. The Undo button lets you undo the last 100 actions and removes the points earned by the undone move.
