Frequently asked questions about Solitaire Réfléchi
How does it differ from Solitaire Klondike?
The setup and moves are those of Klondike, but all 28 cards in the columns are face up from the start. You can therefore see where the aces are and which cards block others before making the first move.
Is the stock face up too?
No. In the app, the 24 cards in the stock remain face down and are revealed as they are turned over onto the waste. You know which cards are there (all those not in the columns), but not the order in which they will appear.
Can every deal be won?
No. According to Wikipedia, when the locations of all 52 cards are known, about 81.942% of deals can be won in draw-three mode. The app does not say whether a deal is winnable; the deals on the Examples page each have a winning game verified move by move.
Drawing one card or three: what's the difference?
In draw 1, each stock card reaches the waste in turn and can be played. In draw 3, the app turns over three cards at a time, and only the top one can be played. The same deal was won in 130 actions in draw 1 (TF1-D1N-AAAAAAG) and in 110 in draw 3 (TF1-D3N-AAAAAAG).
Can you move several cards at once?
Yes, if they form a sequence descending one rank at a time and alternating red and black. Being able to see a card is not enough: if a card on top of it does not continue the sequence, the group cannot move.
What can you put in an empty column?
Only a king, or a sequence that starts with a king. The app refuses any other card, even at the head of a correctly ordered sequence.
How is the score calculated?
Each card placed on a foundation earns 10 points, each card moved from the waste to a column earns 5 points, and each recycle of the waste deducts 100, without ever dropping below 0. The 52 cards in the foundations alone are worth 520 points: the site's featured game finishes at 470.
What is the game code for, and can you undo?
The code, such as TF1-D1N-AAAAAAB, identifies a deal and its draw mode: pasting it into the New Game window recreates exactly the same game. The Undo button reverses the last 100 actions, but does not reduce the move counter.
